RAW 4/12/10

RAW opens with David Hasselhoff coming out to the ring. Hoff announces that tonight will be the Baywatch Babe triple threat tag team match. Hoff then announces Randy Orton as Jack Swagger’s opponent at Extreme Rules. RAW will open with Eve challenging for Maryse’s Diva’s Championship.

Eve vs. Maryse. Maryse begins the match by slapping Eve and pulling her hair. Eve pushes Maryse against the ropes and the referee counts. Maryse breaks the grip on her hair and rolls out of the ring. Eve follows, but Maryse catches her and repeatedly slams her head into the ring apron. Maryse rolls Eve into the ring and Eve begins to fight back with a couple of forearm shots. Maryse begins to fight back, but Eve hits a neckbreaker. Eve goes for the moonsault, but Maryse moves. Maryse goes for the French Kiss, but Eve blocks and counters with a unique roll-up type move for the 3 count. Eve wins the Diva’s Championship.

Move of the Match: Not too many moves in this match (the divas matches never go as long as they should be allowed to.) I’m gonna call it the unique roll-up bridge (which somewhat resembled Kofi’s S.O.S.)

They play video of the Tag Team Championship Match with David Otunga walking out last week.

ShoMiz comes out to the ring. Miz says that ShoMiz is the greatest tag team in WWE History. Miz asks the audience to name another team that’s better, and then tells them it doesn’t matter who they name because they have no credibility. He is about to call ShoMiz the greatest tag team again, when Bret Hart’s music begins to play. Hart comes out and says he can name 2 tag teams better than ShoMiz. He names The Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs. Miz mocks Hart, and says that he’s a fan of the Bulldogs, but that if they were to face ShoMiz, he’d have no problem slapping them. Show tells Hart to leave. Hart says he knows there’s a tag team in the back that can beat ShoMiz and the Hart Dynasty comes out. Hart comments that he fought David’s father in this stadium in one of the greatest matches of all time. David challenges Miz to a match tonight and if he wins the Hart Dynasty gets a title match at Extreme Rules. Miz says that when he wins, next week on RAW, Bret Hart will declare ShoMiz the greatest tag team of all time. Hart agrees.

Back from the break and it is The Miz vs. David Hart Smith. Smith gets a hold of Miz and hits a couple of traditional takedowns until Miz catches him with some back elbows. Miz runs at Smith, but gets hit with a shoulder tackle. Smith begins to dominate Miz, and Miz fights back briefly, only to run into a back body drop. Smith takes a few shots at Miz on the ropes, and while the referee backs him up, Natalya slaps Miz. Smith picks Miz up and holds him, then hits the vertical suplex. Smith covers, but only gets 2. Miz hits a few kicks to Smith’s head. Miz hits a bulldog into the turnbuckle, followed by a double axe handle off the top. Miz gets a camel clutch locked in on Smith. Smith manages to stand and slams Miz into the corner. Miz tries for another bulldog into a turnbuckle, but Smith fights out. The two trade blows and Smith takes control with clotheslines, shoulder blocks and a snap powerslam for a 2 count. Miz fights back and goes for a small package, but Smith gets out and catches Miz with a belly to belly slam for another 2 count. Smith goes after Miz in the corner, but Miz moves, and catches Smith in the corner with his running clothesline move. Miz goes for another double axe handle off the top, but this time gets caught with a big boot from Smith. Smith puts Miz in the Sharpshooter, but Show climbs up on the apron. Smith takes Show down with a dropkick, and Tyson Kidd tries to go after Show, but gets caught with a big slap as he attempts to dive onto Show. Show rolls Kidd into the ring, and while the referee is getting Kidd out of the ring, Show nails Smith with a kidney punch. Miz follows up with the Skull Crushing Finale, and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I’m going to give this to the big boot counter to the diving axe handle. An amazing counter and a great looking move.

Another replay of last week’s events, this time including Batista’s attack and the announcement of the Last Man Standing Match at Extreme Rules. David Otunga and Batista are backstage talking. Hoff comes in and tells Otunga was invited to RAW by John Cena and that the two will have a match tonight.

Evan Bourne vs. Carlito is up next. Carlito takes control early with a series of shots overpowering Bourne, but Bourne soon fights back. Unique head scissors takedown move from the apron in, followed by a couple of kicks from Bourne to Carlito. Carlito counters a kick with a sit-out spinebuster. Carlito hits a series of kicks on the ropes and in the corner, and covers for a 1 count. Bourne fights out of a chin lock and hits a series of kicks. Carlito answers with a big kick to the head. Bourne kicks out at 2 and Carlito goes for a back suplex. Another kick out at 2 and Carlito is back after Bourne in the corner. Bourne begins to fight back and they trade blows. Carlito goes for his springboard back elbow, but Bourne avoids it and hits a running huracanrana. Running dropkick to the corner by Bourne earns him a 2 count. Carlito catches Bourne with a hip toss into the turnbuckle and after setting him up on the top rope goes for a super Backstabber, but Bourne holds on to the ropes. Bourne follows up with Air Bourne and the pin to win the match.

Move of the Match: Lots of great moves (as should be expected in most Evan Bourne matches.) Air Bourne takes the title of Move of the Match.

Time for John Cena vs. David Otunga. Single leg takedown and a headlock. Cena focuses on the arm, and then returns to the headlock. Otunga hits a right hand to Cena, which only makes him mad and Cena hits a series of shots to Otunga. Two suplexes are followed by Cena challenging Batista (who is at the top of the ramp) to come get some. Batista won’t come down to the ring, and Cena turns around and nails Otunga with a clothesline. Cena locks in the STF on Otunga and makes him tap.

Move of the Match: Not hard to choose this one. Although Cena basically put on a clinic of technical wrestling, submission wrestling, and brawling, the only move that stands out enough to be called the Move of the Match is the STF.

Batista rips off his shirt and starts toward the ring, but stops on the ramp and calls for the spotlight. Batista says that he will say when, and turns to leave.

Replay of Sheamus and Triple H from last week. Sheamus comes out to the ring. He says Triple H only brings out the sledgehammer when he’s up against somebody fierce and Triple H must be really afraid of him. Sheamus announces that at Extreme Rules, it will be him and Triple H in a street fight. Kofi comes out to interrupt him. He says that he talked to the Hoff and has been given a rematch from their match last week.

Kofi and Sheamus trade blows, and Sheamus takes control with a side headlock. Kofi shoots him off, but Sheamus hits Kofi with a shoulder block to knock him down. Kofi avoids and elbow drop and hits a series of kicks, but Sheamus backs into the corner and the referee backs Kofi off. Sheamus comes out of the corner, but meets more kicks and a dropkick. Sheamus runs at Kofi, and Kofi avoids him causing Sheamus to fall out of the ring. Kofi goes to spring out, but Sheamus slides back in and Kofi lands on the apron. Sheamus tries to send Kofi’s head into the turnbuckle, but Kofi blocks him and slams his head into the turnbuckle instead. Missile dropkick and a 2 count, but Sheamus comes back with a double axe handle to Kofi. A knee from Sheamus sends Kofi to the floor. A few shots on Kofi and he’s rolled back into the ring. Sheamus covers for a 2 count. Half nelson chinlock move by Sheamus and he converts to a headlock as Kofi fight back. Kofi breaks free, but gets caught with a powerslam. Sheamus is out on the apron, and tries to suplex Kofi out. Kofi fights back with a kick. Series of kicks and a forearm shot on Sheamus, and a dropkick sends him back to the mat. Running flying clothesline and the Boom Drop. Up on Sheamus in the corner with a series of punches. Sheamus goes for the Pump Kick, but Kofi ducks it. Trouble in Paradise on Sheamus, but Kofi only gets a 2 count when Sheamus grabs the ropes. Sheamus and Kofi go to the outside and Sheamus nails Kofi with one of the monitors from the announce table resulting in a disqualification. Sheamus nails Kofi in the head with the monitor.

Move of the Match: Trouble in Paradise always impresses and takes the title for this match.

After the match, Sheamus continues the attack slamming Kofi into the ring post and hitting the Pump Kick.

Backstage, Carlito is looking for the Hoff because he wants a rematch with Bourne. Vladimir Kozlov says he hasn’t been given proper competition on RAW. Carlito complains about the guest hosts and says that if he doesn’t get traded to SmackDown he’ll quit. Carlito tells Kozlov that the cast of McGruber is hosting next week and Kozlov says that he will get what he wants or he will destroy McGruber.

Orton is backstage with Josh Matthews. Matthews asks Orton his strategy for Extreme Rules. Orton says he’s sent over a dozen people to the hospital in his career and that winning Money in the Bank was a best and worst case scenario for Swagger. Orton says his plans for Swagger are strictly business, but getting his hands on Batista is something he’s been looking forward to for a very long time.

Baywatch Babe Triple Threat Tag Team Match. David Hasselhoff is the special guest lifeguard. Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa Mendes and Jillian Hall vs. Nikki and Brie Bella. The special guest referee for this match is Santino. Kelly and Jillian start out and Kelly quickly hits her spinning head scissors takedown. One of the Bella twins tags in and hits Jillian with a dropkick. Interference by Rosa leads to a samoan drop from Jillian to the Bella (I honestly have no idea which one). 2 count for Jillian and she tags in Rosa. Rosa hits a couple of weak kicks and a snap suplex. The Bella manages to roll Rosa up, but Jillian comes in to break the count. Gail comes in after Jillian and during the confusion, the Bella twins switch places. This Bella rolls up Rosa for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: Not many moves worth mentioning in the match. I really wish they’d let the divas actually compete. Move of the match goes to Kelly’s spinning head scissors takedown with an honorable mention to Jillian’s samoan drop.

Post match, Jillian yells at Santino and causes him to swallow his whistle. Santino collapses and Hornswoggle comes out to the ring. Hornswoggle applies pressure to Santino’s abdomen and tries to pull the whistle out, but it does no good, so he climbs up and hits the Tadpole Splash which causes the whistle to come out. The Hoff gives Hornswoggle 2 thumbs up.

Randy Orton vs. Batista. A long staredown is followed by Batista backing Randy into the corner. There’s a break and it’s clear they’re feeling each other out, with Batista having a clear strength advantage. Orton takes control with a side headlock followed by a drop toe hold. A series of blows from Orton and Batista rolls out of the ring. Batista is clearly getting mad. Back in the ring and Orton hits his backbreaker. Stomps from Orton and he attempts a knee drop, but Batista moves. Batista sends Orton into the ring post and Orton falls out of the ring. Back from break with Batista in control of Orton’s arm. Orton fights back, but is sent into the middle turnbuckle. Clothesline in the corner and Batista sets Orton up on the apron. Batista on the outside hits a series of elbows to Orton followed by a boot. 2 count and Batista goes for a front headlock on Orton. Orton starts to fight back, but Batista fight back again. Batista sets up the announce table and pulls Orton out of the ring, but Orton fights back. A couple more kicks from Batista on the inside get him another 2 count. Batista sets up for the spear, but is met with a kick and this time Batista is sent into the ring post. The two trade blows and Orton hits Batista with 2 clotheslines. Boot from Batista and goes for a powerslam, but Orton fights back and hits his snap powerslam. Orton’s thinking RKO, but then he looks over at the announce table and decides to go for the Punt instead. Batista slides out of the ring and catches Orton with an eye gouge when Orton follows. Batista slides Orton back into the ring, but when he tries to follow, he gets caught with the rope hung DDT. Orton gets a 2 count and signals for the RKO. Batista counters the RKO and hits a spinebuster. Batista goes for the Batista Bomb, but Orton counters with the RKO. Orton goes to cover Batista, but Swagger hits the ring and nails Orton with the Gutwrench Powerbomb giving Orton the win by DQ.

Move of the Match: Gotta go with the RKO. Lost of great moves, but when the RKO comes into play, it’s generally gonna be the move of the match.

Swagger starts to leave, but Cena clips him from behind with a blow, then slides into the ring and locks in the STF on Batista. Batista taps repeatedly, then begins to go limp as Cena maintains the hold. Cena stands over Batista and counts to 10, then celebrates in the ring as RAW ends.
