Show hangs Morrison over the ropes and Morrison refuses to break the hold resulting in a disqualification. The next team is MVP and Mark Henry. MVP hits the ring and immediately covers for 2. Show fights him off and tags in Miz. MVP catches Miz with a snap suplex and a 2 count. Mark Henry is tagged in and nails Miz with a big headbutt. Henry tags MVP back in. Back Suplex from MVP and a series of strikes set him up for the Ballin’ Elbow. He hits the Elbow, but Show breaks up the count. Show nails Henry with a big boot. MVP hits the Playmaker, but Show nails him with the big right hand as he goes for the cover. Miz rolls over to cover MVP for the 3 count. The third team out is the Hart Dynasty. They run out to the ring. Big Boot from Smith and a low dropkick from Kidd drops Show off the apron. They hit the springboard Hart Attack on Miz and cover for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: Since this was really 3 matches in 1, I’m going to give each section a move. For the first it has to be the modified triangle choke (even though it resulted in a DQ for refusing to release the hold.) The second part I’m going to give it to the Boot from Show that dropped Mark Henry. For the 3rd Part, this has to go to the springboard Hart Attack.

Sheamus comes out and says that Triple H can man up and face him, or lose by forfeit, but either way he will win.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio. If Punk loses, his head will be shaved.

The referee ejects both Gallows and Serena from ringside. As they leave, Mysterio takes advantage of the distraction to dropkick Punk out of the ring. Mysterio follows up with a springboard moonsault to the outside. Mysterio rolls Punk into the ring and hits a springboard leg drop for a 2 count. Mysterio hits a seated senton and goes for the springboard crossbody, but Punk catches him with a dropkick. Punk hits a springboard forearm on Mysterio for a 2 count. Punk picks Mysterio up, hits the GTS and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I’m actually going to give this to the reverse powerbomb from the mystery member of the SES.

Up next is Shad and JTG facing off in a strap match.
My Prediction: This match seriously favors Shad, and I don’t really see JTG beating him, so I’m predicting Shad will win this match.

Shad immediately uses the strap to get close to JTG, but JTG wails with blows to Shad. Shad trips JTG with the strap and touches 3 of the corners, but JTG begins to use the strap as a whip. Series of strikes to Shad and JTG touches a turnbuckle, but Shad pulls back and sends him over the ropes. JTG ends up on the outside and fights with Shad using the strap. JTG hangs Shad up on the ropes. JTG touches a corner and hits Shad with a leg lariat. He touches 2 more corners, but Shad grabs him and performs a back suplex lift into a facebuster. Shad drags JTG with the strap and sends him shoulder first into the ring post, then nails him repeatedly in the arm with the strap. Shad begins to touch the ring posts and JTG touches each corner after Shad does (Very reminiscent of JBL facing Batista in a bullrope match on SmackDown.) After touching 3 counters, JTG begins to fight and hits Shad with the Shout Out, and then touches the final corner to win the match.

Move of the Match: Gotta give this to the Shout Out for the win.

1 for 3

Post match, Orton catches Swagger with an RKO on the outside before making his way up the ramp. As Orton leaves the ringside area, Sheamus comes out. Sheamus comes down to the ring and says that if Triple H won’t come out and face him, he wants the referee to raise his hand as the winner of the match. In the back Grisham says all indications are that Triple H won’t be able to compete, but Triple H comes out and makes his way to the ring.
My Prediction: The cerebral assassin picks up the win in a hard fought match.

Sheamus goes after Triple H with the pipe, but Triple H ducks and drops Sheamus. Triple H clotheslines Sheamus out of the ring and follows up with a clothesline to Sheamus’ back. Sheamus brings Triple H back into the ring and hits a second Pump Kick. Triple H pulls himself back up and Sheamus hits him with a third Pump Kick. Triple H stumbles out of the corner and Sheamus hits him with a fourth Pump Kick, and covers him for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: This has to go to the Pump Kick.

1 for 4

After the match, the trainers try to put Triple H on a gurney, but he gets up and tries to walk to the back. The trainers and referees help him, but Sheamus comes back out and hits Triple H with another Pump Kick. They put Triple H on the gurney and stretcher him out.

My Prediction: Michelle McCool picks up the win.

Phoenix overpowers McCool early. McCool fights back, but Phoenix uses a unique roll up to earn a 1 count. Phoenix comes out of the corner with a flying clothesline. Layla comes after Phoenix with a broom, but Phoenix gets it. She chases Layla and Vickie saves Layla by distracting Phoenix. McCool sets up for the Faith Breaker, but Phoenix counters. She gets McCool up for the Glam Slam and hits it. Phoenix covers for the 3 count to win the Women’s Championship.

Move of the Match: This was a very interesting match, but the move of the match has to go to the Glam Slam.

1 for 5

Backstage, Josh asks Jericho about his loss to Heath Slater and whether it will affect Jericho’s match. Jericho says one loss won’t affect him. Jericho says tonight he will end Edge’s career.

Extreme Rules Predictions

Time for Extreme Rules predictions. There are some interesting matches set up for this event and some of the matches are part of pretty impressive feuds.

JTG vs. Shad Gaspard (Strap Match)
What I want to happen: After Shad turned on him; I’d kind of like to see JTG pick up the win in this match.
My Prediction: This match seriously favors Shad, and I don’t really see JTG beating him, so I’m predicting Shad will win this match.

Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix (Extreme Makeover Match for the Women’s Championship)
What I want to happen: I’d like to see Beth Phoenix destroy Michelle McCool and add another Women’s Championship to her résumé.
My Prediction: The rules of the match are unclear, but it appears to be a form of no disqualification and I expect Layla (and possibly Vickie) to interfere in the match. Due to this, I predict that Michelle McCool picks up the win.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk (If Punk loses, his head gets shaved)
What I want to happen: I’d like to see Mysterio beat Punk and add insult to injury by successfully shaving his head.
My Prediction: This match is hard to predict, but I expect that Mysterio will pick up the win in this match. As for Punk’s head actually getting shaved; although the stipulation of the match requires that if he loses, if Mysterio wins, I expect the SES to interfere and at least try to save Punk’s hair.

Triple H vs. Sheamus (Street Fight)
What I want to happen: Triple H gives Sheamus the beating he deserves.
My Prediction: The cerebral assassin picks up the win in a hard fought match.

Edge vs. Chris Jericho (Steel Cage Match)
What I want to happen: Edge destroys Jericho in this match.
My Prediction: Edge seems to have Jericho’s number in this match. Ever since he lost at Wrestlemania, Edge has been looking to destroy Jericho. I expect that in the steel cage, he finally takes out Jericho and defeats him in the ring.

John Cena vs. Batista (Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship)
What I want to happen: I want Cena to destroy Batista in this match.
My Prediction: Cena picks up the win and puts an end to his feud with Batista.

Jack Swagger vs. Randy Orton (Extreme Rules Match for the World Heavyweight Championship)
What I want to happen: I’m divided on this. I think Swagger could be a great champion, and a win in this match would pretty much solidify his title reign. On the other hand, I kind of would like to Orton pick up the win and get a run with the World Heavyweight Championship.
My Prediction: Swagger retains. I expect Randy to put up a good fight, but I expect that in the end, Swagger will find a way to pick up the win over Randy and walk out with the World Heavyweight Championship still around his waist.

SmackDown 4/23/10

Smackdown opens with Swagger coming out to the ring. Swagger brags about going toe to toe with the Undertaker and plays a video of some of the highlights of the match. Swagger says that Orton is a viper whose venom can stop a man in 3 very fast seconds. Swagger says he is the antidote and he will go for the viper’s neck and cut its head off. Morrison comes out for a match with Swagger.

Swagger and Morrison trade some traditional mat wrestling moves with Swagger getting the better of Morrison. They return to their feet and Swagger takes Morrison back to the mat with a scoop slam. Swagger misses a big leg drop and Morrison catches him with a big knee to the face and gets a 2 count. Morrison picks up some momentum and charges at Swagger, but Swagger counters with a move that is like a belly to belly slam into a spinebuster. Smackdown returns with Morrison in a body scissors from Swagger. Morrison fights out, but Swagger catches him with a forearm shot. Swagger sets him up on the top rope and goes for a superplex, but Morrison fights back. Morrison hits a missile dropkick on Swagger to earn another 2 count. Morrison rolls Swagger up with a magistral cradle, but Swagger still kicks out at 2. Morrison goes for the Chuck Kick, but Swagger counters with a big kick to Morrison’s abdomen and gains a 2 count. Swagger hits a pair of elbow drops and a big double leg drop for another 2 count. Swagger gets an armlock crossface (it’s like a modified crossface chicken wing) on Morrison. Morrison fight out but Swagger counters an attack with a wheelbarrow suplex. Swagger returns to the armlock crossface. Morrison fights out. He charges at Swagger and while Swagger tries to counter with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, Morrison counters into a DDT. Morrison goes after Swagger. He throws Swagger out of the ring and Swagger lands on the apron. Swagger tries to spring back in, but Morrison answers with a kick to Swagger’s abdomen. Swagger starts to fight back, but Morrison catches him with the Flying Chuck and gets a 2 count. Swagger finally manages to catch Morrison with the Gutwrench Powerbomb, but Morrison grabs the ropes to break up the count. Swagger attempts the Oklahoma Stampede, but Morrison fights out. Morrison hits the Pelé kick. Morrison follows up with Starship Pain and covers Swagger for the 3 count and the pin.

Move of the Match: Lots of great moves in this match. I like Swagger’s new wear down submission and the Gutwrench Powerbomb is always impressive, but you can’t get much more impressive than Starship Pain.

Backstage, Punk complains to Teddy Long that he has “a little sociopathic gremlin in a mask” cutting people’s hair with scissor. Punk says Mysterio did it because he knows he can’t beat Punk at Extreme Rules. Long makes a tag team match tonight. CM Punk and Luke Gallows will take on Rey Mysterio and his partner, “a handsome, distinguished debonair, with no hair,” Kane.

Up next R-Truth and Matt Hardy are taking on Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler in a tag team match. R-Truth takes control early with a side headlock on Ziggler. He rolls Ziggler up for a quick 2 count. R-Truth tags in Hardy. Ziggler sends R-Truth into the corner and follows after. Float over, cartwheel and R-Truth dodges a clothesline from Ziggler who is caught and dropped across the ropes by Hardy. Hardy tries to take a shot at Drew, but Drew drops off the apron to avoid it. Back from break, Ziggler and Hardy trade blows. Hardy gets the advantage and drops Ziggler in the corner. An alley oop into a powerbomb earns Hardy a 2 count. Hardy goes for a Side Effect, but Ziggler fights out and sends Hardy shoulder first into the ring post. Hardy rolls out and leans on the ring steps. The referee is arguing with Ziggler, and Drew moves over and stomps Hardy’s head into the steel steps. The referee sees Hardy is down on the outside and asks if he wants to continue. Hardy nods to indicate he does. Ziggler rolls Hardy back into the ring and covers him, but only gets a 2 count. The referee checks on Hardy’s condition again and decides to end the match. Ziggler and Drew win by referee stoppage.

Move of the Match: This has to go to the stomp from Drew to Hardy on the ring steps. Although this was a disturbing action on the part of Drew, it also did the damage necessary to for the referee to stop the match.

After the match, Drew grabs Hardy and slams him into the ring steps.

Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett come out to the ring as the cage is lowered. Jericho says he will end Edge’s career at Extreme Rules. Jericho talks about using the cage as a weapon. He says he will take advantage of the cage to tear Edge’s Achilles tendon again and put him on the shelf for good. Edge comes out to the top of the ramp. Edge says nothing is going to stop him from getting inside the steel cage at Extreme Rules. Edge says that Chris keeps saying how he’ll reinjure Edge, but Edge knows how to deal with an injury and Jericho doesn’t. Edge says nothing will stop him this Sunday from spearing Jericho through the cage. He then says nothing will stop him from Spearing Jericho right now. Edge attacks Jericho and Barrett. Jericho and Barrett double team Edge, targeting his left leg. Edge fights back and kicks Jericho into the cage. He hits the Edge-O-Matic on Barrett and sets up to spear Jericho. Jericho escapes through the cage door and holds it closed. Barrett tries to get Jericho to let him out, but Jericho refuses because Edge is right behind Barrett. Edge repeatedly sends Barrett into the cage, and then spears him.

Up next JTG is taking on Mike Knox. Shad is at ringside for this match. JTG starts out with quick punches to Knox, but Knox follows up with the “Flying Bear” crossbody. Knox hits a big splash on JTG and covers for a 1 count. JTG fights back and hits a diving shoulder block/neckbreaker type move. He sets up Knox in the corner and hits the Mug Shot. Knox rolls out of the ring, but JTG follows up with a slingshot crossbody to Knox on the outside. Knox tries to fight back, but JTG catches him with the Shout Out and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the match: Got to give this to the Shout Out. It’s an impressive move and is fun to watch.

After the match, Shad hits the ring and attacks JTG with the leather strap.

Team LayCool is taking on Mickie James and Beth Phoenix. Layla and Beth start out the match. Layla gets a side headlock, and Beth swings her around in a circle. Beth tosses Layla off and goes after her, but Layla answers with kicks to Beth. McCool tags in while Beth catches Layla and performs a giant swing. Beth picks up Layla in a military press, but McCool kicks her in the back of the knee. McCool proceeds to focus the attack on Beth’s knee. McCool tags Layla back in and Layla continues the attack on Beth’s knee. Beth is finally able to tag in Mickie. Mickie hits a series of attacks on Layla and then takes a shot at McCool on the apron. Mickie hits a diving seated senton to Layla and covers. McCool kicks Mickie in the head, breaking up the count. Beth sends McCool out of the ring and Layla takes advantage to hit Mickie with her sit out neckbreaker (which Matt Striker has dubbed the Layout.) Layla covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: Couple of good moves, but this has to go either to the diving seated senton from Mickie to Layla, or the neckbreaker from Layla to Mickie.

Post match, Team LayCool puts Beth Phoenix through an ironing board. Then McCool hits her with the big boot and they put lipstick all over her face.
