IMPACT 4/12/10

Jeff Jarrett is out to start Impact. Jarrett says that instead of waiting for Sting to give an answer, he’s going to go after Sting to get an answer. Jarrett heads up to the rafters in search of Sting. Sting appears and puts a finger to his lips to quiet the cameraman. He heads for the stairs, but Jarrett comes out of nowhere and attacks him. They fight down the stairs and end up in the main part of the Impact Zone. Jarrett is in control of Sting until the lights go out and when they come back on, Sting has his baseball bat. Sting lays Jarrett out on the mat, but before he can do any more damage, Abyss, Hardy and RVD come out to make the save.

JB’s in the back with Ric Flair and his team. Ric Flair says in St. Louis, they will destroy Team Hogan and Hulkamania. Roode says that after Hardy steps in the ring with him tonight, Hardy will never fly again. Wolfe says that just like any other animal, Abyss can be tamed and tonight he won’t just tame him, he will maim him. AJ says that things start tonight when he and Wolfe take on Pope and Abyss and will end at Lockdown when he defeats and embarrasses Pope in their match.

Team 3D comes out and announces that their match with The Band will be a street fight. We return to Impact with Team 3D and Jesse Neal taking on The Band in a 6 man tag team street fight. 3D is fully in control of The Band. Syxx-Pac takes a trash can shot from Neal, then Hall takes a trash can shot from Brother Ray. Brother Devon goes after Nash with a trash can lid. Hall tries to crawl up the ramp, but Ray follows and nails him with a Kendo stick to the back. Neal scoop slams, Syxx-Pac, then holds a trash can lid over his lower regions, while Ray nails the trash can lid with the kendo stick. Neal goes after Nash, while Ray continues on Syxx-Pac and Devon rolls Hall back into the ring. Neal goes after Hall and Syxx-Pac with a kendo stick while 3D double teams Hall. Syxx-Pac throws a trash can at Neal’s head, then nails him with a kick to the chest. While Neal fights to regain control of Syxx-Pac, Brother Ray places a trashcan over Nash’s head and nails it with a kendo stick. Ray throws Nash out of the ring, and hits him with a diving trash can shot off the steps. They hit the Whassup? Headbutt on Hall and Ray calls for the Tables. Ray and Syxx-Pac fight in the ring and Ray sets up Syxx-Pac on the table. Bubba the Love Sponge comes out to the ring and distracts Ray. 6-Factor through the table and Brother Ray is pinned to give The Band the win.

Move of the Match: The Syxx-Factor through the table. The other moves in the match were amazing, but the Syxx-Factor through the table definitely takes the spot as the best move in this match.

Hall continues the attack on Ray, but Eric Young hits the ring with a hockey stick and runs off the band. Young announces him vs. Kevin Nash at Lockdown.

Christy is backstage with Hulk Hogan. She asks him about Lockdown. Hogan says his team will prevail at Lockdown. Hogan sees Bischoff talking to Flair and confronts him about it. Hulk says they’ll talk about it in his office.

Next match is “The Prince of Punk” Shannon Moore vs. Kazarian. Quite a bit of chain wrestling between Moore and Kazarian to start out the match. Kaz keeps using Moore’s Mohawk to maintain control, grabbing it every time Moore tries to shoot him off. Tenay announces that Team 3D vs. Scott Hall and Syxx-Pac has been added to Lockdown. More chain wrestling, but Moore and Kaz are starting to pick up the pace. Moore hits a couple of arm drags and regains control. Kaz sends Moore off, but when Moore comes back, he slides between Kaz’s legs, and then hits and inverted atomic drop. Jumping leg drop from Moore followed by a 1 count. Couple of strikes by Moore on Kaz in the corner. Moore tries to whip Kaz, and when Kaz turns it around, Moore counters with a crossbody out of the corner onto Kaz for a 2 count. Kaz is sent off into the ropes, but when Moore comes after him, he pulls down and Moore goes out over the top rope to the floor. Kaz slams Moore into the barrier, then into the ring. He slides Moore into the ring and hits the slingshot leg drop. Douglas Williams comes out to the broadcast table as Kaz catches Moore with a Northern Light’s Suplex for a 2 count. Moore goes for another crossbody on Kaz, but Kaz sees it coming and counters with a gutbuster. Kaz gets another 2 count on Moore. Moore fights back and goes for his version of a wheelbarrow bulldog on Kaz, but doesn’t hit it quite right sending both men down to the mat hard. Moore really starts to pick up the pace with a flying clothesline followed by a spinning kick. He follows up with a dropkick and Kaz rolls out of the ring. Moore goes for a baseball slide, but Kaz moves. Kaz elevates Moore up to the apron, but Moore lands on his feet, and after a kick, Moore hits a moonsault on Kaz outside the ring. Moore hits a diving moonsault for a 2 count. Kaz hits the Back to the Future for a 2 count. Kaz goes for a back suplex off the top, but Moore kicks him off and hits the Halo for a 2 count. Series of pin attempts, and the bell rings. The match has come down to a time limit draw.

Move of the Match: I’d have to say this goes either to Kaz’s Back to the Future or Moore’s Halo. Both are impressive moves and are fun to watch. I also want to give an honorable mention to the Moonsault by Moore to Kaz on the outside. The move was also impressive, and true to Moore’s high flying style.

Post match, the two shake hands to show respect. Williams gets on the stage and mocks them. The two go after Williams and chase him out of the ring.

JB is backstage with Velvet Sky. She says that tonight’s match will not be for the title. She announces that at Lockdown it will be The Beautiful People taking on Angelina Love and Tara. If one of the Beautiful People scores the pin, she will become the new Knockout Champion. But if Angelina or Tara makes the pin, they will become the new Knockout Tag Team Champions. Velvet says that the first woman to be stripped tonight will lose.

Bischoff and Hogan are talking in the ring. Hogan asks Bischoff about his actions over the past couple of weeks. Bischoff asks Hogan if he wants him to apologize for being him. Bischoff says he was talking to Flair to try to get information to help team Hogan. Bischoff leaves and Machismo walks in. Machismo says something needs to be done about The Band. Machismo suggests they team up to take out The Band. Hogan says they can do it after Lockdown in Machismo finds his tights and boots.

JB is in the back with Angelina Love. Angelina says she would’ve chosen a wrestling match for tonight. She says she came to TNA to bring Women’s Wrestling to a whole new level. Tara interrupts her and the two argue.

Christy is with The Pope and Abyss. Pope says Lockdown will be his defining moment. Abyss says that they’ve got Desmond and AJ right where they want them in the ring. Abyss says at Lockdown he will not let Hulk down.

Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky. Velvet comes out with a microphone and announces that the match will not be a Leather and Lace match, and instead Angelina Love will be handcuffed for the match. Angelina repeatedly kicks Velvet after Velvet enters the ring. Velvet nails Angelina with the Knockout’s Title, and announces that this match is now an I Quit Match. Velvet chokes Angelina, and then tries to get her to say she quits, but Angelina refuses. Velvet whips Angelina, chokes her and asks her again, but Angelina still refuses to quit. Velvet threatens to strip Angelina naked and rips off her shirt, but Angelina won’t quit. Madison Rayne and Lacey Von Erich come out to make it a 3 on 1 beat down. Tara comes out and chases the Beautiful People out of the ring. She gets the key from Slick Johnson and unlocks the handcuffs. Angelina offers Tara a handshake, but Tara just walks away.

I’m not going to put a move of the match for this one as it was really just a beat down on Angelina.

Christy is out in the parking lot where Abyss is down. She says all she has heard is that a car sped off quickly. We are back and Christy tells us that Abyss was hit by a car.

JB’s in the back with Morgan. Morgan says, “We don’t need anybody.” Apparently Morgan thinks he’s 2 people now. He says that because TNA has told him he has to have a partner he has one. Morgan introduces his tag partner, Amazing Red. Morgan describes himself and Red as “A match made in wrestling heaven.”

Up next, The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Matt Morgan and Amazing Red. Morgan takes control of Shelley to start the match. Shelley hits a series of kicks to Morgan and Sabin gets the blind tag. Shelley gets caught with a clothesline and Sabin gets caught with one when he comes in. Morgan picks up Shelley and holds him as though for a side slam. Morgan drops Shelley onto Sabin. Shelley is tossed out of the ring on one side and Sabin is clotheslined out on the other. Back from the break, Sabin and Red are in the ring. High speed action which results in a huracanrana on Sabin by Red. Shelley comes in with a clothesline attempt, but Red dodges with a matrix move and hits the spinning roundhouse kick. Running dropkick to Shelley in the corner. Sabin tags in and goes for Red, but Red avoids him and slides out of the ring. Sabin goes after Red and catches him with a big kick on the outside. Sabin rolls Red back into the ring for a 2 count. Red counters a suplex and a series of moves result in Red being hit with an aided whiplash move by the Guns. The Guns argue with the ref, and while he’s distracted, Morgan drags Red over to the corner. Morgan tags himself in and nails Sabin with a big back elbow. Back elbows in the corner. Morgan grabs Sabin by the back of the neck. Shelley comes in, but eats a big boot. Inverted chokeslam on Sabin into the turnbuckle. Morgan hits a big splash on Shelley in the corner, then sends Sabin into him. Morgan tries for a double big splash, but the Guns fight back and gain control. Shelley goes for a crossbody off the top, but Morgan catches him. Sabin comes off with a dropkick dropping Morgan with Shelley on top of him. Both Shelley and Sabin cover, but they still only get a 2 count. Red gets tagged in and goes at it with Sabin who catches him with a kick to the face. Poetry in Motion type dropkick takes Morgan off the apron. Red fights back and hits the Red Eye on Shelley. Morgan comes in and nails Sabin with a viscious clothesline. Morgan sets up for the Hellevator on Shelley, but Red hits Sabin with the Code Red for the pin.

Move of the Match: Always hard to identify a move of the match for a match involving Red and the Guns. I’d have to give it to the Code Red for this match, although some of the Guns tag team moves were amazing.

After the match, Morgan attacks Red for making the pinfall. He nails Red with the back elbows in the corner. Morgan sets up Red to hit him with the boot against the ring post, but Sabin pulls Red out of the way.

Christy is still out back and they show a surveillance tape of Abyss being hit by a car. They show an “enhanced” version that zooms in on the driver who highly resembles Desmond Wolfe.

Next is Robert Roode vs. Jeff Hardy. They replay the attacks by Beer Money on RVD and Hardy from last week. As the match begins, Tenay announces that the opening match at Lockdown will be James Storm representing Team Flair vs. RVD representing Team Hogan to determine which team will have the numbers advantage in the Lethal Lockdown Match. Roode takes Hardy down with a shoulder tackle, but then walks into a hip toss from Hardy. Hardy catches Roode with an arm drag followed by an arm lock. Hardy hits Roode with a shoulder block, and holds onto the ropes so that when Roode goes for a dropkick, he doesn’t connect. Hardy hits his double leg leg drop and a dropkick to the face, and covers for a 2 count. Twist of Fate attempt, but Roode pulls back and slides out of the ring. On the outside, Roode shoots Hardy off into the steel ring steps. Roode hits a scoop slam and a knee drop on Hardy, but only gets a 2 count. Roode gets Hardy locked in a rear chinlock. Hardy fights back and gets the jawbreaker. Spinning mule kick from Hardy to Roode. The two trade punches, and Hardy hits a variation of the sleeperslam followed by a clothesline. Gourdbuster followed by Whisper in the Wind from Hardy to Roode. Hardy gets a 2 count. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but Roode counters and hits the Spinebuster. 2 count for Roode. Roode goes for a suplex, but Hardy counters and nails him with a stunner. Hardy climbs up top and Storm runs in. Hardy kicks Storm away and Roode climbs up. Roode gets knocked down and Hardy hits the Swanton on Roode. Hardy covers for the 3 count to win the match.

Move of the Match: Lots of great moves from these two, but I always love to see Hardy hit the Swanton, so I’m going to call it the move of the match.

After the match, Storm attacks Hardy sending him into the barrier and the ring post. Storm moves Hardy into the ring and the image freezes as he spits a fireball into Hardy’s face. (According to TNA, Spike would not allow them to air this. There is video of this on their youtube page and it’s a pretty wicked moment.) RVD comes out, but gets caught by a Beer Money double team and is hit with the DWI. After the break, Hardy is shown in the back getting medical treatment.

They play a highlight video of the Angle/Anderson feud.

JB is backstage with the Pope. Lethal comes in and offers to be Pope’s partner. Pope seems to think this could work.

The Pope comes out for his match. Lethal’s music plays, but he doesn’t come out. We see Lethal backstage being attacked by Beer Money. Lethal starts to fight back, but James Storm breaks a beer bottle over his head. AJ comes out. Flair follows in his wheelchair. AJ says it looks like a handicap match. Wolfe comes out, but Hogan follows and nails him with a chair. Pope catches Styles and throws him off the stage into the guardrail. Pope brings AJ back into the ring and AJ hits him with a jumping enzuigiri. Pope fights back and sets up for one of the variations of the D’Angelo Dinero Express, but Flair gets out of the wheelchair and nails Pope with the title belt. The ref calls for the bell and Pope wins by DQ.

Move of the Match: There weren’t too many moves in this match, but AJ’s jumping enzuigiri was wicked, and with the lack of actual moves, I’ll give that the move of the match.

Post match beat down on the Pope and AJ throws him out of the ring. Hogan comes out and stands on the stage. He and Flair have a stare down to end the show.
