RAW 7/5/10

RAW opens with the Nexus in the ring. Wade Barrett says they cannot reveal right now why they did what they did to Mr. McMahon, but it needed to happen. Barrett gives the mic to Skip Sheffield. Sheffield says what they did to the Legends last week was for fun. Sheffield is interrupted by the computer sounding. Michael Cole reads the email which states that as punishment for the assault on Vince McMahon, none of the Nexus can compete for any WWE Title until further notice. It also notes that the ruling about Nexus members and WWE superstars not being able to touch one another has been lifted. John Cena comes out. Cena says the Nexus hasn’t had a fair fight since they came here and to do so, it would need to be 7 on 7. Cena is joined by Randy Orton, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Hart Dynasty and Evan Bourne. They start to make their way down to the ring, but they’re jumped by Sheamus, Edge, The Usos, Ted DiBiase, The Miz, and Chris Jericho. The fight goes into the ring and Cena and his allies clean house. Sheamus says that the WWE superstar the Nexus attacks over and over is Cena. Orton takes the mic from Cena. He says he and Cena aren’t friends and probably never will be unless they have to. Orton says the Nexus is a threat to all of them. The GM sends another email. It says that all 8 members of the MITB Ladder Match will be in action against each other tonight. The email asks Cena to step into the ring with Barrett tonight to shake hands and call a truce.

Tonight’s opening match is John Morrison taking on Ted DiBiase. DiBiase gets control early with a back body drop and stomps on Morrison’s chest. DiBiase hits a series of knees to Morrison and locks in a body scissors. Morrison fights back, but DiBiase maintains control. Morrison comes back and rolls DiBiase up for 2. He hits a big clothesline and a spinning kick for another 2 count. Morrison looks for the Moonlight Drive, but DiBiase shoves him off and as he comes back hits a scoop slam for a 2 count. Morrison hits his bicycle kick and both men are down in the ring. Maryse grabs Morrison’s coat from ringside and climbs up on the steel steps. DiBiase takes advantage of the distraction to poke Morrison in the eye and he hits Dream Street on Morrison to pick up the win.

Move of the Match: There were a handful of good moves in this match, but I’m going to give this to Dream Street.

Santino and Kozlov are in the back preparing for a match. Kozlov tells Santino that if they lose, he will pound his fist in Santino’s face.

Santino and Kozlov vs. William Regal and The Great Khali. Kozlov and Regal start out. Kozlov overpowers Regal and hits a series of headbutts. He tags in Santino. Santino starts to go up top, but then goes back to the bottom rope and hits a double axe handle to Regal. Santino goes for a kick, but misses Regal by a few feet. Regal looks at him like he’s crazy. He wants Regal to come closer. He starts to set up the Cobra, but Regal hits him from behind. Regal nails him with an exploder suplex and Santino tags Kozlov back in. Kozlov fights off Regal. He hits a thrust kick and follows up with the Iron Curtain for the 3 count and the win.

Move of the Match: Regal had a nice exploder suplex, but this has to go to the Iron Curtain.

After the match, Khali gets in the ring and tells Santino to pick Regal up. Kozlov helps him and Khali nails Regal with a big chop. Santino joins Khali in celebrating in the ring and Kozlov looks mildly entertained.

They replay the attack on the Legends from last week. In the back, Arn Anderson talks to Josh Matthews about the attack. He says Ricky Steamboat’s condition is serious. Sheamus comes up behind Anderson and he sends Josh away. Sheamus says Anderson is a pathetic old man. Anderson says Sheamus is blind and stupid. He tells Sheamus that if the company goes down, Sheamus’ championship will be worthless because he’ll be “a great white shark patrolling around an empty mudhole.”

R-Truth vs. The Miz is next. Miz comes out and nails R-Truth in the head with his microphone. He sends Truth into the ring steps and the ring post. Miz slams Truth shoulder first into the ring post again and continues the attack on the arm. Miz says that people who get into the ring with him will get hurt.

Edge comes out for the Cutting Edge. He talks about Money in the Bank and how he has held it and cashed it in twice. He calls out his first guest, Evan Bourne, but Chris Jericho comes out instead. He says he won’t take a backseat to Bourne. Jericho points out that he beat Edge at Wrestlemania. Jericho says Edge has always wanted to be him. He points out how Edge’s career has mirrored his. Edge finally attacks Jericho, but Jericho fights back against him and locks him in the Walls of Jericho. Evan Bourne comes in and hits Jericho with a springboard double knee strike to Jericho. He leapfrogs over Edge and dodges an attack from Jericho. Bourne rolls out of the ring and backs up the ramp with both Edge and Jericho calling him back into the ring. The computer beeps and Cole announces that Edge and Chris Jericho are going to team up to face Bourne and his tag team partner, Randy Orton.

Edge and Chris Jericho vs. Evan Bourne and Randy Orton. Bourne and Jericho start out. Jericho gets control early with a series of forearm shots and kicks. Bourne fights back with a high knee to Jericho. He hits a back elbow in the corner and his running knee for 2. Bourne continues the attack and tags in Orton. Orton hits a series of shots on Jericho in the corner. He taunts a possible RKO, but Jericho gets a burst of energy and tags in Edge. Orton overpowers Edge and hits a clothesline followed by a big knee drop for 2. Orton takes Edge down again and starts his stomping. He brings Edge to his corner and tags in Bourne. Orton hits a drop toe hold to Edge and Bourne follows with a running dropkick. Edge tries to fight back, but takes another kick and tags in Jericho. Bourne nails Jericho with a dropkick and Jericho rolls out of the ring. Bourne hits Jericho with a baseball slide and dives out onto him. Back in the ring, Jericho dodges a kick and nails Bourne with a clothesline. Back from break, Edge has Bourne in a rear waist lock and is applying pressure. Bourne starts to fight back and hits some kick, but Edge hits the Edge-O-Matic for a 2 count. Edge tags in Jericho who hits a backbreaker on Bourne and maintains the position for a potential submission hold. Bourne fights out with big kicks to Jericho. Jericho tags in Edge and Edge grabs Bourne. Edge goes for a suplex, but Bourne nails Edge with a pair of knees and when Edge sets him down, Bourne hits a spinning kick to Edge. Jericho is tagged back in, but Bourne also makes the tag. Orton hits Jericho with his scoop slam and follows up with a rope hung DDT. Edge distracts Orton and Jericho nails him with a running enzuigiri. Edge tags back in and attacks Orton’s shoulder. Edge tags Jericho back in and Jericho continues the attack. The referee backs Jericho off and Edge attacks Orton from the apron. Orton starts to fight back, but he gets caught with a dropkick from Jericho for a 2 count. Jericho locks in a reverse chin lock on Orton. Orton fights back, but Jericho hits a running bulldog. Jericho goes for the Lionsault, but Orton rolls out of the way. Edge and Bourne are tagged in. Bourne hits a running huracanrana and a dropkick. He nails Edge with a spinning kick. Edge counters a springboard crossbody with a big boot and tags in Jericho. Bourne hits a jumping kick to Jericho. Edge is fed up with Jericho and he spears him. Bourne goes up top and hits Air Bourne on Jericho for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: This has to go to Air Bourne.

After the match, Bourne and Orton celebrate until Orton suddenly turns Bourne around and nails him with an RKO.

In the back Orton is confronted by David Otunga, Heath Slater and Michael Tarver. They tell Orton the only reason they jumped him at Fatal 4-Way was to make a statement. They tell him that they will not interfere in the MITB Ladder Match. Otunga points out that once the cage rises after the steel cage match, the champion will be in a vulnerable position, but if the winner of MITB is against them, they can make sure there won’t be a new champion. Orton says he’s heard what they have to say and tells them to get out of his face.

Josh Matthews announces that at MITB, the Hart Dynasty will defend their Tag Team Titles against the Usos. One of the Usos bets the other the Josh doesn’t know which one he’s talking to. Tamina tells Josh which one is Jimmy and which one is Jey. Jey says that in 2 weeks they’ll be the Unified Tag Team Champs. Alicia Fox comes up. She says it’s been 2 weeks since she won the Diva’s Championship and she has not been interviewed. She says her victory at Fatal 4-Way was not a fluke and she’ll prove it tonight.

Eve Torres vs. Alicia Fox is next. Eve gains control early with a pair of dropkicks. She clotheslines Alicia and covers for 2. She tosses Alicia across the ring and Alicia is holding her leg. Alicia tells the referee she wants to continue, but keeps holding her leg. Eve goes after Alicia, but Alicia catches her with a knee and then (now showing no sign of pain in her leg) hits her Scissors Kick on Eve and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I think of the moves that were hit, I have to give this to the Scissors Kick.

Wade Barrett comes out to the ring. He says everything the Nexus has done has had a purpose and it’s unfortunate Cena got caught up in the middle of it. Barrett invites Cena out to the ring. Cena comes out and Barrett says Cena is not in their future plans. Cena says he doesn’t want a truce. Cena says he will take them all down. Barrett tells Cena to shake his hand or face the consequences. Cena clasps hands with him and picks him up for the Attitude Adjustment. Barrett escapes as the rest of Nexus hits the ring. Bourne comes out, but the numbers game takes him out as well. Morrison comes out, but is also quickly outnumbered. Mark Henry’s music hits and he comes out joined by Khali, Kozlov, Santino, Goldust, Yoshi Tatsu and the Hart Dynasty. Nexus flees the ring and Young is left in the middle of the ring. The computer beeps and Cole reads the message which says “If things don’t stop now, there will be consequences.” Cena locks in the STF on Young. The computer beeps again and Cole announces that because of his actions, Cena will face all 7 members of Nexus next week in a 7 on 1 handicap match. Cena goes after Young again. He beats on him and sends him into the ring post where he falls to the outside. Cena picks up the ring steps and throws them at Young. He picks up Young and throws him over the announce table. Cena then flips the announce table over onto Young. Cena stands in the ring to end RAW.
