RAW 7/19/10

RAW opens with a triple threat match to determine who will face Sheamus for the WWE Championship at Summerslam. The three competitors are Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Edge. Jericho and Edge try to double team Orton, but he fights them both off to start. Jericho backs Orton in the corner and both men work on him in the corner. Orton fights back and sends Edge out of the ring. He takes a shot at Jericho and goes back after Edge, but Edge hangs him up on the top rope. Jericho holds Orton so Edge can hit him and takes a shot of his own. They shoot Orton off and go for a double back body drop, but Orton counters and hits a double DDT. Jericho rolls out of the ring and Orton covers Edge for 2. Orton hits big knee drops to Edge and works on Edge with a series of kicks and stomps. He backs Edge into the corner and hits a series of shots. Orton sends Edge into the other corner and looks for the RKO, but Edge pushes him off and Jericho (who has just reentered the ring) nails Orton with the Codebreaker. Jericho covers, but Edge breaks it up. Edge and Jericho are finally fighting each other and the fight goes outside the ring. Back from break, Edge and Jericho are still outside the ring. Jericho picks Edge up and drops him across the barricade. Jericho climbs up onto the apron, but Orton nails him with a shot and he flies into Edge. Jericho and Edge try to get back into the ring, but Orton catches them both. While Edge escapes, Orton hits Jericho with the rope hung DDT, but Edge breaks up the count and sends Orton into the barricade. Edge covers Jericho, but only gets 2. Edge brings Orton back into the ring and covers him for 2. Edge hits a knee to Orton’s back and follows up with a couple of strikes. Edge backs against the ropes for momentum, but Jericho pulls him out and slams him into the announce table. Jericho slides into the ring and takes a shot at Orton. He rolls Orton up and puts his feet on the ropes, but still only gets 2. Jericho locks in a reverse chin lock, but Orton fights back. Orton hits shots to Jericho and gets a 2 count off his snap scoop slam. Jericho goes to the apron, but Orton goes for the rope hung DDT again. Orton releases Jericho as Edge comes into the ring. He hits a shot and follows up with his unique backbreaker which gains him another 2 count. Orton kicks Edge and Edge rolls out of the ring. Edge sets up for the Spear, but Jericho counters and locks Edge into the Walls of Jericho. Edge reaches the ropes and Jericho breaks the hold. He tries to pull Edge to the middle of the ring, but Edge rolls him up for a 2 count. Edge clotheslines Jericho out of the ring, and as he does, Orton slides into the ring. Edge turns around and Orton goes for the RKO, but Edge hits the Edge-O-Matic for another 2 count. Edge sets up for the Spear on Orton. Edge goes for the Spear, but Jericho comes in and blasts Edge with a shoulder block. Orton rolls up Jericho for 2 and then Edge rolls up Orton for 2. Jericho goes for a double clothesline on Edge and Orton who both go for a clothesline on him, and all three are down. Jericho sends Edge out of the ring and counters the RKO. He goes for the Lionsault, but Orton rolls out of the way. Orton stalks Jericho and this time hits the RKO. Edge comes in and Orton hits the RKO on him as well. Orton covers Edge for the 3 count to become Sheamus’ opponent at Summerslam.

Move of the Match: A lot of great moves in this match, but I think I have to give this to the amazing double DDT as a counter to the double back body drop.

Back from break, Edge is in the ring calling out Jericho. He says he and Jericho have been going at it for 11 years. He says things have to end. Jericho says that he is the reason Nexus has achieved all they have achieved. He says he could call out Nexus and he’s sure they would back him up. Edge says if he offered to help Nexus, they would take him up on his offer. The Nexus comes out and Wade Barrett says Nexus would be lucky to call either one of them an ally. Nexus attacks Edge and takes him down. Sheffield hits a big spear on Edge. Jericho puts Edge in the Walls of Jericho, but Nexus turns on Jericho and beats him down as well. Barrett directs traffic and Otunga hits his chokehold spinebuster on Jericho.

Josh Matthews asks Wade Barrett whether Wade Barrett individually can compete with the World’s Strongest Man. Barrett says every member of the Nexus is just as good individually as collectively. Sheamus comes in. He says he has a proposal for Barrett.

John Cena is in the back. He says that no man can beat Nexus. He says that tonight he wants to meet Nexus in the ring. Cena says that Nexus says you’re either Nexus or your against them. He says that he’s saying, “If you can’t beat ‘em,” shrugs his shoulders and leaves.

Eve is out for a match with Maryse. Ted DiBiase is joining the announce table. Eve slaps Maryse, but runs into a kick. Maryse chokes Eve on the ropes and nails her with a running knee strike. Maryse sends Eve into the corner, but Eve hits her springing kick off the bottom rope. Eve covers Maryse and although Maryse gets her foot on the rope before 3, the referee doesn’t see it and completes the count.

Move of the Match: This goes to Eve’s unique spring kick.

After the match, DiBiase comes in and argues with the referee. Morrison hits the ring and attack DiBiase. He beats him down and hits him with a big knee. Morrison goes up top and hits DiBiase with Starship Pain.

Sheamus comes out to the ring. Sheamus says that earlier tonight he sought a truce with Wade Barrett. He says Wade Barrett agreed and the truce is in effect. Miz comes out with the Money in the Bank briefcase in hand. Miz says that as long as he has the contract, he controls the fate of the WWE Championship. Miz talks about all of the different ways he can cash in Money in the Bank. Sheamus starts to leave and we get an email from the GM. Michael Cole reads the email which states that Miz should take a seat at ringside while Sheamus faces Evan Bourne.

Sheamus vs. Evan Bourne. Sheamus starts the match with an attempt to hit the Brogue Kick. Bourne avoids the kick and hits a pair of kicks and a big knee to Sheamus’ jaw that sends him out of the ring. Back from breaks and Bourne appears to still be in control of Sheamus. Sheamus fights back, but Bourne one again nails him with some powerful kicks. Sheamus takes down Bourne with a huge clothesline and gets a 2 count. Sheamus slams Bourne into the corner and hits big kicks. Sheamus wraps Bourne around the ring post and holds him for 4. Sheamus hits crossface blows to Bourne and locks in a chin lock with a chicken wing. Bourne starts to fight back, but Sheamus catches him and hits a big powerslam type move, but still only gets 2. Sheamus goes back to the chicken wing chin lock. Bourne hits a pair of big kicks to Sheamus and follows a slap from Sheamus with another big kick. Sheamus hits a spinning heel kick and follows with a dropkick. Sheamus goes for the Irish Curse, but Bourne counters and rolls him up for 2. Bourne hits a big spinning back kick and goes up top. Sheamus rolls out of the ring, but Bourne takes him down with an outside dive off the top. Sheamus gets back into the ring and as Bourne tries to come back in, Sheamus distracts the referee and hits a low kick to Bourne. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick and picks up the win.

Move of the Match: I think I have to give this to Bourne’s outside dive on Sheamus.

After the match, Miz comes in and attacks Sheamus with the briefcase. He picks Sheamus up and puts Sheamus head first into the briefcase with the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz is about to cash in MITB when R-Truth comes out. Miz calls off the match, grabs his briefcase and fights with Truth. Miz runs to the back to escape Truth.

In the back, Miz says R-Truth cost him the WWE Championship because he had Sheamus unconscious and he would’ve won.

Orton confronts Sheamus and tells him that no matter who is the Champ come Summerslam, they’ll have a bull’s-eye on them. He says that he’s going to hit the bull’s-eye with an RKO.

Santino goes for a handstand back elbow, but Ryder sees it coming and drops down behind Santino, tripping him. Santino tags in Kozlov and Ryder tags in Regal. Kozlov hits a fireman’s carry takedown and locks in an arm lock. He tags Santino back in and they go to work on the arm, but Regal nails Santino with a big shot. Santino tries to fight back, but Regal takes him down and after a 2 count tags in Ryder. Ryder hits a big knee drop and covers for a 2 count of his own. Ryder locks in a chin lock. Santino gets up, but Ryder hits an STO variation. Santino side steps a missile dropkick and kicks Ryder off. Santino tags in Kozlov who brings the attack to Ryder. He hits a huge thrust kick and picks up Ryder for a powerslam. He covers, but breaks the cover to chase off Regal. Ryder goes for the Rough Ryder, but Kozlov counters into the Iron Curtain. Santino hits his headbutt and covers for 3.

Move of the Match: This has to go to Kozlov’s Iron Curtain as a counter to the Rough Ryder.

Wade Barrett taking on Mark Henry is next. Barrett goes out to the apron to start and tells the referee to back Henry off. He goes after Henry, but gets caught with a big headbutt. Barrett goes after Henry with headbutts and punches, but he barely does damage. Henry hits big blows to Barrett and slams him into the corner. Henry sends Barrett off and hits him with a big clothesline for a 2 count. Henry hits another headbutt and Barrett goes with a headbutt of his own. Barrett starts to work on Henry’s knee, but runs into a snap scoop slam for another 2 count. Henry sets up Barrett and climbs up in the corner. The Nexus comes out to the ramp and Henry is distracted. Barrett hits a big kick to Henry and picks him up on his shoulders. Barrett hits his finisher and covers for 3.

Move of the Match: This has to go to Barrett’s show of strength by hitting his finisher on Henry.

The rest of Nexus comes down to the ring. Barrett calls out Cena. We see Cena making his way out to the arena. Back from break, Michael Tarver calls out Cena and Cena comes out from the back. Cena asks for a truce, but Wade Barrett says no. Barrett says he wants Cena to join Nexus. Cena says he won’t join Nexus. Barrett tells Cena he can either leave the ring and walk away with his “tail between his legs” or stay in the ring and be given the worst beating Nexus has ever administered. Cena leaves the ring and starts up the ramp. He stops at the stage and says he will take each and every one of Nexus down. Cena says he has some help and that his team will face Nexus at Summerslam. Cena introduces his team: Edge, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Chris Jericho and the final member is none other than Bret “The Hitman” Hart. Cena’s team hits the ring and Nexus takes off through the crowd. Cena’s team taunts the Nexus from the ring to end RAW.
