RAW 5/25/10

RAW opens with Batista (whose arm is in a sling) being escorted to the ring by a pair of referees. Batista sits down in a wheel chair in the ring. Batista says that last night he said 2 words he never thought would come out of his mouth. Batista says that he’s contemplating filing suit against John Cena, The WWE, and every fan in the WWE Universe for supporting Cena’s actions. Batista says that because of his injuries, he’s out for weeks or even months and years. He says he’ll be back and he’ll get a rematch. The ring announcer interrupts saying he has been asked to introduce the new General Manager of Monday Night RAW, Bret “The Hitman” Hart! Hart comes out and announces that Cena’s opponents for Fatal Four Way will be determined tonight. Hart tells Batista if he wants a match, he can qualify for Fatal Four Way, right now. Batista says he’s hurt and Hart tells him that his opponent is hurt too. Hart announces Batista’s opponent, Randy Orton. Hart tells Batista he can take the match or forfeit. Batista says that if Hart does this, he will quit. Hart announces that Batista has forfeited and Randy Orton has qualified for Fatal Four Way. Hart leaves and Batista gets mad and says he quits.

The first match tonight is Mark Henry taking on Sheamus for a Fatal Four Way qualifying match. Sheamus and Mark Henry lock up. Henry overpowers Sheamus. Sheamus fights back, but Henry sends him into the corner and follows up with a scoop slam. Henry throws Sheamus out of the ring. Sheamus goes back to the attack, but runs into another clothesline. Henry hits a big splash for a 2 count. Henry goes for a splash in the corner, but Sheamus moves and Henry hits his shoulder on the turnbuckle. Sheamus tries to climb up top, but Henry catches him and lifts him up. Henry can’t support the weight and drops Sheamus. Sheamus hits the Pump Kick and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I liked Sheamus working the technical match with his focus on the arm. I also liked Henry’s power moves, especially his big splash. Still, this has to go to the Pump Kick.

Jon Lovitz is in the back. Maryse comes in and tells Lovitz that she has some photos that would win his superstar search. Lovitz says he’s not just here to plug his new comedy club, but he’s also created a new submission move, “The Fast Freak Fiber Twist Jugular Pinch” and he’s been teaching it to Santino. He tells her he could teach it to her. Maryse isn’t interested. Lovitz says something in French and then says he has millions of dollars. Maryse says she might be interested and Lovitz says he isn’t.

Bret Hart is in the back with Edge. Edge is telling Hart he deserves a 1 on 1 championship match. Hart points out that Edge fought Orton to a double count out last night. Edge says that since Orton qualified by beating a beat up Batista and by that logic, Edge should get the opportunity to qualify by facing an equally beat up Cena. Chris Jericho comes in and says that he beat Edge at Wrestlemania and he demands Hart puts him in the fourth spot. Hart makes Edge vs. Jericho vs. Cena tonight. If one of them wins, he qualifies for the Fatal Four Way, but if Cena wins, they’re both out. Edge says he’s a better champion than either of them ever was and he’s a better Canadian than either of them is. After Edge leaves, Jericho tells Hart not to make an enemy out of him.

She follows up with a kick to the shoulder and a 2 count. Maryse drops Gail with a backbreaker. Gail fights back with a punch. Maryse goes for a cheap shot on Eve, but Eve ducks and answers with a forearm shot. Gail makes the tag. Eve comes in with a clothesline and a series of dropkicks. Eve drops Maryse with a neckbreaker and gets a 2 count. She hits the standing moonsault, but Alicia breaks up the count. The referee is distracted by Gail going after Alicia and Alicia hits a big boot to Eve. Maryse follows up with the French Kiss and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I’m going to give this to Alicia’s vicious kick.

Up next is Miz taking on R-Truth for The United States Championship (Bret Hart has vacated the title and made this match.) Miz says that he is taking back the United States Championship. Miz backs into the corner and then takes a cheap shot kick. He hits a shot in the corner and a clothesline. Miz misses a clothesline and Truth follows up with a dropkick. Truth hits a punch and counters an attack with a victory roll for a quick 2 count. Miz rolls out of the ring. Back from break, Miz has Truth down on the outside. Miz slams Truth’s arm into the apron. They show that during the break Miz avoided a dive from Truth and Truth landed hard on the mat. Miz rolls Truth into the ring and covers for a 2 count. Miz goes to an arm lock. Truth fights back, but runs into a kick and jumping armlock takedown. Miz covers for 2. Miz hits a knee to Truth’s back and slams Truth’s arm to the mat. He follows up with a kick to the head. Miz wraps Truth’s arm around the ropes. Truth fights back with some big punches, but Miz hits a kick to the injured arm. Miz sets Truth up in the Tree of Woe and hits a series of kicks. Miz looks to stomp on Truth’s groin, but the referee won’t let him. Truth hits a modified German Suplex from the hanging position and covers for 2. Truth fights back with a series of strikes and backs Miz into the corner. The referee pulls Truth out of the corner and Miz counters another attack with a back elbow, but runs into a flapjack. Truth hits a missile dropkick off the second rope and gets another 2 count. Miz blocks an attack from Truth, but Truth counters his next attack and hits a complete shot for another 2 count. Truth goes back up top and hits a diving cross body, but Miz rolls through for a 2 count. Miz hits a series of punches and his inverted DDT backbreaker, but Truth counters the neckbreaker with a backslide for 2. Truth catches Miz with a small package for another 2 count. Truth goes for his Scissors Kick, but Miz avoids it. Truth hits the Lie Detector and gets the 3 count to win the United States Championship.

Move of the Match: I’m going to give this to R-Truth’s German Suplex type attack from the Tree of Woe position.

Josh Matthews is in the back with John Cena. Cena says that after last night, he was exhausted. He says when he heard Batista say “I Quit,” he felt good because he had closure. He said he was on cloud nine, but was then kicked in the face by “someone whiter than cloud nine.” He says people are questioning why Sheamus attacked him, but he knows Sheamus did it because of the WWE Championship. Cena says the toughest part of holding onto the championship is keeping it. Cena says you always have your back against the wall and every champion has the choice to run or fight. Cena says he fights and while it’s unrealistic to say he will hold on to the Championship forever, but whoever takes it from him will have sure earned it. He explains the rules and they start out with Khali and Ranjin Singh doing the “Putting on the Ritz” routine from Young Frankenstein. Lovitz buzzes them. He says it was bad, but the worst thing he saw in show business was when he accidentally walked in on Rosie O’Donnell naked. Jillian’s out next and he buzzes her before she can even start singing. Lovitz asks for someone talented from the audience. He pulls a very enthusiastic guy out of the audience. The guy says his name is Joe. He says his talent is that he can pull his eye out of his head. Lovitz lets him do it and he pops out a glass eye. Ted DiBiase comes out. He says he wants the eyeball. He asks Joe how much and Joe says he can’t sell DiBiase his eyeball. DiBiase says if he can’t buy it, he’ll beat up Joe and take it. Santino comes out. Santino says he has mastered Lovitz’s submission hold and if DiBiase doesn’t leave the “Cyclops Boy” alone, he will apply it to Virgil. Lovitz tells Santino if you don’t know how to do it perfectly, it’s ineffective. Santino does it to Virgil and he drops. He goes to do it on DiBiase but it doesn’t work. DiBiase grabs Santino and hits Dream Street. Lovitz tells DiBiase that he wins the talent contest to get DiBiase to leave.

Up next is the Hart Dynasty taking on William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov. Regal starts out with a forearm to Kidd. He hits a pair of knees and tags in Kozlov. Kozlov powerslams Kidd and covers for 2. Kozlov picks up Kidd in a Canadian backbreaker rack. Kidd fights out and catches Kozlov with a kick from the apron. Kidd tags in Smith who drops Kozlov with a shoulder block and hits a series of shots. Smith goes for the powerslam, but Kozlov fights out and hits the head block. Kozlov tags in Regal. Regal misses the knee trembler. Smith tags in Kidd and they hit the Hart Attack. Smith takes out Kozlov and Kidd gets the cover for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: This has to go to the Hart Attack.

After the match, the Hart Dynasty is jumped by 2 guys and a girl. All 3 of them go up top and they all hit diving splashes on the 3 members of the Hart Dynasty.

Josh Matthews is in the back with the final four NXT Rookies. He asks who will be eliminated. Justin Gabriel says Heath Slater. Wade Barrett agrees with Gabriel. Heath says it’s fine if they say that, but he’s not going anywhere and he thinks Otunga is going home. Otunga also says he thinks Slater will go home. Slater challenges Otunga to a match on NXT. King addresses Cole and Daniel Bryan. Cole says he’s going to be on NXT with his attorneys and he’s going to call out Daniel Bryan and demand and apology. He says that if Bryan doesn’t apologize, he will sue him.

Edge and Jericho meet in the back. Jericho tells Edge that Cena is the weak link tonight and Jericho is going to pin him first. Edge says Jericho better be fast because he’ll beat him to it. He also says that maybe he won’t beat Cena, but he’ll pin Jericho.

Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment on Edge, but Edge fights out and Jericho catches Cena with the Codebreaker. Edge nails Jericho with the Spear and covers for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I’m going to give this to the Walls of Jericho that he locked on Cena while Cena still had the STF locked in.

Sheamus comes out and stands on the ramp. Orton comes out and stands on the stage leaving all four men in the Fatal Four Way in the arena.
