RAW 5/10/10

RAW opens with Randy Orton coming out to the ring. Orton says that Edge sees him as a threat. Meat Loaf comes out to the ring. Meat Loaf tries to get Orton to use one of his new songs as Orton’s new theme song. Orton gets tired of Meat Loaf and nails him with the RKO. Edge comes out. He talks about Orton attacking various celebrity guest hosts. Edge says that he talked to WWE Headquarters and introduces RAW’s new General Manager, Vickie Guerrero. Vickie makes Orton vs. Edge and a partner of Edge’s choice in a handicap match for tonight.

Chris Jericho taking on David Hart Smith is up first. If Jericho wins, he and the Miz get a tag title shot at Over the Limit. Jericho starts the match by slapping Smith and immediately takes a series of shots. Smith hits the delayed suplex, but Jericho avoids a leg drop and answers with a kick to the head. Jericho hits a series of kicks and nails a low dropkick. Jericho goes to a headlock on Smith. Smith comes out of the corner with a clothesline. Jericho goes after him, but Smith nails Jericho with a belly to belly throw. Jericho blocks an attack in the corner and goes after Smith, but Smith catches him with a snap powerslam and covers for a 2 count. Jericho blocks an attack with a back elbow, but misses the Lionsault. Smith gets the Sharpshooter on Jericho. Jericho is able to reach the ropes forcing Smith to break the hold. Jericho catches Smith with a thumb to the eye and follows up with the Codebreaker. Jericho covers for the 3 count and the win.

Move of the Match: This has to go to the Codebreaker.

R-Truth comes out with Flava Flav. R-Truth is up against William Regal. Regal hits a series of blows in the corner. He shoots Truth off and Truth floats over, hits his cartwheel and splits and nails Regal with the spinning kick. Regal rolls out of the ring, and Carlito and Primo hit the ring and attack Truth. Primo sets up Truth and Carlito hits the Backstabber.

Move of the Match: There weren’t many moves before the Colons attacked and caused the DQ. Due to the lack of moves, this has to go to the spinning kick from R-Truth.

The Colons back up the ramp where the join Ted DiBiase who hands each of them an envelope.

Josh Matthews talks to Orton. Orton says he’s not concerned because he can’t do anything about it. Orton invites Vickie to come to ringside for the match so he can make sure it’s a night she will never forget.

Zack Ryder is in the ring. He says tonight will be his first win on RAW. Evan Bourne comes out to the ring. Ryder starts out early with a series of shots. Ryder shoots Bourne off, but Bourne comes back with a running head scissors takedown. Bourne hits a back elbow in the corner and a jumping enzuigiri. Bourne looks to go up top, but Ryder stops him. Bourne enters the ring, but gets caught with the Rough Ryder. Ryder hits Bourne with a neckbreaker and earns a 2 count. Ryder sends Bourne into the turnbuckle and chokes him on the ropes. Bourne fights back with a kick. Ryder gets set up and Bourne hits the running knee into the corner. Bourne goes up top and Alicia tries to stop him, but Gail Kim pulls Alicia off the apron. Bourne hits Air Bourne and gets the 3 count.

Move of the Match: The Air Bourne always impresses.

Bourne goes out to ringside and offers Gail his arm and she leaves with him.

Cena comes out to the ring. He says he wants to thank Sheamus, because Sheamus gave him a week to think about the match he wants to face Batista in at Over the Limit. Cena admits that the victory at Extreme Rules was intellectual, but not athletic. Cena says some people saw it as an act of cowardice, but he is not a coward and he will prove it. Cena announces that the match at Over the Limit will be the last time he faces Batista for the WWE Championship. He says that if he loses, he will forfeit his rematch clause. Cena announces that the match will be an I Quit Match. Cena then proceeds to call out Sheamus. Sheamus says that if he and Cena go at it, Cena won’t be able to win at Over the Limit. Cena says he’ll take his chances. Sheamus starts down to the ring and Batista tries to take a cheap shot at Cena. Cena goes after them, but Batista nails him with the spear. Sheamus hits Cena with the Irish Curse and Batista tosses him out of the ring. Batista slams Cena into the ring post twice and slides him back into the ring. Sheamus nails Cena with the Pump Kick. Batista sets up for the Batista Bomb, but Mark Henry hits the ring. He splashes Batista in the corner and sends him out of the ring with a big boot.

Edge tells Vickie he has a partner. Edge tells Vickie he wants her to be at ringside for his match against Orton. Edge tells Vickie things will be fine and guarantees her that nothing will happen to her.

Tyson Kidd vs. The Miz. If Kidd wins, Miz must defend his United States Championship against a member of the Hart Family next week. Miz attacks Kidd to start the match and slams him down to the mat. Miz nails Kidd with a kick that sends him out of the ring. Miz tries to nail Kidd on the apron, but Kidd hits a shoulder block and comes into the ring with a unique roll up on Miz for a 3 count.

Move of the Match: This has to go to the unique move Kidd used to come into the ring and pin Miz.

Miz gets the microphone. He says that he gets to choose which member of the Hart Family he defends his championship against. Miz says he’ll defend it against Bret Hart.

Backstage Josh Matthews tells Batista that he just learned that Batista will face Mark Henry tonight. Batista says at Over the Limit he’s going to make Cena scream “I Quit” and if people don’t believe him, they should watch what he does to Mark Henry tonight.

The NXT Rookies vs. John Morrison, Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust and Santino in an 8 on 4 Handicap match. Goldust and Wade Barrett start out. Barrett goes after Goldust in the corner. Goldust fights back with a blow and an inverted atomic drop. He hits a short armed clothesline and tags in Yoshi. Yoshi hits a diving chop to Barrett’s arm. Barrett fights back and tags in Justin Gabriel. Gabriel gets caught with a Japanese arm drag. Yoshi goes for a hip toss, but Gabriel lands on his feet. Gabriel tries to sweep Yoshi’s legs, but Yoshi jumps. Yoshi hits a series of kicks, but Gabriel avoids the roundhouse kick and answers with a spinning kick of his own. Gabriel hits an attack and backs towards his corner, where David Otunga tags himself in. Otunga goes after Yoshi. He hits a series of blows, and goes for a back suplex, but Yoshi lands on his feet. Otunga hits a shoulder block on Yoshi for a 2 count. He hits a sliding clothesline for another 2 count. Otunga goes for another running attack, but runs into a forearm. Yoshi tags in Morrison and Otunga tags in Heath Slater. Morrison catches Slater with a dropkick and follows up with a clothesline. Attacks in the corner and Morrison hits a spinning kick to Slater. Michael Tarver tries to help, but Morrison catches him and sends him out of the ring taking out Darren Young as well. Morrison sends Slater out to the apron. Slater comes back in with a sunset flip, but Morrison rolls through and nails Slater with a knee to the head. Morrison sets up for Starship Pain, but Skip Sheffield distracts him. Morrison goes for Starship Pain, but Slater gets his knees up. Slater tags in Daniel Bryan. Bryan goes after Morrison, but gets caught with a back body drop. Morrison tags in Santino who attempts a suplex, but Bryan counters and rolls him up in a small package for the 3 count.

Move of the Match: I’m not sure there was a move in this match really worth being mentioned as the move of the match. Starship Pain and Slater’s sunset flip were both countered. Otunga’s sliding clothesline was impressive, but so were Yoshi Tatsu’s Japanese arm drag and Justin Gabriel’s spinning kick.

In the back, Flava Flav tells the Bellas what the idea behind Nite Tales is. Santino and Kozlov come in arguing with Kozlov speaking Russian and Santino speaking Italian. Flava Flav asks them to speak English. Kozlov says Santino won’t leave him alone. Santino says he was trying to tell Kozlov they would make a good tag team. Kozlov says Santino always loses. Regal comes in. Flava Flav says he thinks Kozlov should hear Santino out. Regal says anyone can rap. They challenge him to rap and he says he has better things to do. Regal performs a freestyle type rap. Flava Flav says that it was the most ridiculous thing he’d ever heard.

Batista comes out for his match with Mark Henry. Batista sits in a chair while he waits for Henry to come out. Batista attack Henry before he can completely enter the ring. Batista grabs the chair and nails Henry repeatedly in the shoulder. Batista locks Henry into a hold that is like a modified grounded abdominal stretch, but focuses the pressure on Henry’s shoulder and arm. The referee tries to get Batista to break the hold. Henry passes out from the attack. Batista says to the doctor that Henry will be alright and leaves.

Randy Orton vs. Edge and a partner of his choosing. Edge reveal his tag team partner, Ted DiBiase. DiBiase and Orton start out. Orton gets control early with a side headlock. Edge tags himself in and attacks Orton from behind. Edge continues the attack and chokes Orton on the ropes. Edge tags DiBiase back in and they go after Orton in the corner. DiBiase chokes Orton in the corner and while the referee backs him up, Edge stomps on Orton’s arm and head. DiBiase tags Edge back in and holds Orton while Edge kick him. Edge looks for Edgecution, but Orton fights out. Edge avoids a clothesline and hits a big boot. Edge covers for a 2 count. Edge tags DiBiase back in. Orton starts to fight back, but DiBiase hits a short range clothesline and covers for a 2 count. DiBiase gets Orton in a chinlock, but Orton fights out. Orton hits a series of clotheslines on DiBiase. He nails Edge with a back elbow and follows up with a powerslam on DiBiase. Edge tries to get back on the apron, but Orton knocks him off, sending him crashing into the announce table. DiBiase goes after Orton but gets caught with the backbreaker. Orton sets up for the RKO. DiBiase fights back, but gets sent out of the ring with a back body drop. R-Truth comes out and distracts DiBiase. Orton hits DiBiase with the RKO and covers for the win.

Move of the Match: Lots of good moves, but this has to go to the RKO.

After the match, Orton goes out to ringside where Vickie is sitting. Vickie tells him not to do whatever he’s thinking about doing. She says she resigns. Edge starts to get up and Orton RKO’s him on the floor while Vickie runs out of the arena. RAW ends with Orton in the ring while Edge lies on the ground at ringside.
